Community Service

Most Explorer posts participate in community service projects.  The type of project is selected by the Advisors and/or Explorers based upon their groups’ interests and focus.   Examples of these projects are:

Law Enforcement: Serving as crowd control, parking control or security at community events or parades, running fingerprinting booths for young children and their parents and collecting clothes/food/toys for the needy.  County wide, we have over 550 Law Enforcement Explorers who in total donate over 30,000 hours of community service annually performing jobs at community events that we would otherwise have to pay officers overtime to do.  This saves the taxpayers several million dollars each year!

Fire: Promoting fire prevention and safety at community events, collecting clothes/food/toys for the needy and helping raise money for various charities.

Medical: These Explorers volunteer at the Hospital where they meet and have health screening booths at Council Events.

Animal Control: When ever there is an animal related event these Explorers are there to help out.  They have also helped evacuate animals from pet hospitals during fires.
